MANILA, Dec. 4 (PNA) -- The Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) on Friday issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) against the operation of Uber and Grab Car, which are both classified as online-based transport service.

In the order issued by the Quezon City RTC Branch 217, Uber and Grab Car were temporarily stopped from operating within a period of 20 days from Friday.

The TRO was granted as prayed for in the petition filed by transport group Stop and Go Coalition.

The petitioners claimed that their income were affected by the transport utilities who have secured franchise because of the proliferation of online-based transport service, which do not have their own franchises.

They added that the transportation network vehicle service violates the law, but still managed to acquire the approval of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC).
