Pangasinan receives dental health bus, equipment

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, June 20 (PNA) -- The provincial government of Pangasinan, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), received on June 20 one dental health bus from the Department of Health (DOH) and health and medical equipment from a U.S.-based group.

These were turned over to the provincial government during the weekly flag-raising activity at the Capitol Plaza.

The medical equipment from the Bridge of Life-Da Vita USA were turned over to Governor Amado Espino Jr., who was represented by his son and namesake, incoming governor Amado "Pogi" Espino III, current president of the province's Liga ng mga Barangay.

The governor, who is celebrating his birthday today (June 20), was unable to attend the blessing and turnover as he visited the tombs of his father and sibling as part of his regular birthday observance. The older Espino is the incoming congressman of the fifth district of Pangasinan.

Meanwhile, according to the younger Espino, the relationship between the provincial government and the Bridge of Life has been very prosperous over the years.

Among the medical equipment donated by the organization through its director for technical operations, Engr. Christopher Atwater Sr., were 863 units of wheelchair, 42 units of infant weighing scale, and 12 units of binocular microscopes.

The Bridge of Life, a non-profit organization that focuses on giving life-saving dialysis machines to developing countries, was the same organization which installed and now operates the dialysis units at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital in San Carlos City.

Further, Dr. Ana De Guzman, PHO chief, said the dental bus is under the management of her office and scheduling will be managed by the provincial dentist.

“We will have a meeting with all the dentists of the provincial government to brief them of the scheduling of the dental bus,” she said.

Meanwhile, the distribution of the wheelchairs will be in coordination with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.

The incoming governor vowed to continue his father’s legacy of prioritizing the provision of the best healthcare services to the constituency.
