CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) – Do you have a story that features the experiences and contributions of volunteers to sustainable development?
The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVCSA) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) invites you to join the Volunteerism Story Writing Contest with the theme “Volunteering for Sustainable Development.”
The contest aims to engage the youth in discovering and narrating the diverse experiences of people and organizations that render volunteer services for community empowerment and sustainable development.
It also seeks to highlight volunteerism as a strategy in the achievement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in support to the Philippines’ commitment to the global development priorities.
The contest is open to undergraduate college/university students who have completed or are currently taking the National Service Training Program (NSTP).
Each participant shall choose one Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) and write a feature article on an individual or group/organization whose volunteer work is aligned with the achievement of the chosen SDG.
One winner will be selected in each region to help showcase the volunteering stories in different areas of the country. Regional winners will receive P3,000.
Entry forms and the contest mechanics can be downloaded at PNVSCA’s website www.pnvsca.gov.ph and Facebook page www.facebook.com/innovatecooperateinspire or at CHED website www.ched.gov.ph.
The deadline for the submission of entries is on 31 August 2016.
