CEBU CITY -- The government is set to implement this year, more infrastructure projects in Central Visayas all set to ease the traffic in the cities of Tagbilaran and Cebu.
During the recent Regional Development Council - Infrastructure Development Committee (RDC-IDC) meeting, the committee along with Chairman Glenn Anthony Soco reviewed the proposed Bohol Capitol bypass road.
The proposed bypass roads in Bohol will connect San Isidro, Cabawan and Malayo Norte Cortes and Calceta Street to Hangos road.
Kareen Suarez of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Central Visayas, reported that the proposals are duly recommended by the RDC secretariat to the IDC chairman.
A bypass road connecting V. Rama Avenue, Barangay Guadalupe and Barangay Lahug was also presented to the committee by newly installed Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-7 Director Edgar Tabacon.
According to Director Tabacon, the road may help ease the traffic experienced by motorists along Escario street.
Meanwhile, GMR Megawide Cebu also presented to the committee their proposed Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) expansion.
The development will include an additional terminal and a second runway.
GMR Megawide Chairman Andrew Harrison, said the proposed second runway is the answer to emergencies like what transpired in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) weeks ago.
The bypass roads are expected to be implemented next year, while the estimated completion of the airport’s expansion is set on year 2040.
