MTRCB, CHR sign MOA for human rights protection and promotion

MANILA, Dec. 14 (PNA)--Culture and arts, particularly in the movies and electronic media can effectively work together for the artistic creativity of of human rights.

Movie and Television Review and Classification Board Chairman Atty. Eugenio “Toto” Villareal on Monday affirmed that his agency and the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) have agreed to strongly protect and promote human rights in the country.

”We have recently signed up a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for better coverage and provide all help to the CHR headed by chairperson Jose Luis Martin “Chito” Gascon at their headquarters in Diliman, Quezon City,” said Villareal.

Witnesses during the signing ceremony were MTRCB board member Atty. Noel del Prado and CHR Commissioner Karen Gomez-Dumpit.

”This can only mean a confirmation of cooperation between the two government agencies which have vital roles in the field of society and development of community values,”said Villareal.

”The MTRCB, of course, is the institution of government that ensures that whatever is produced that impacts our future, builds on, draws from and strengthens humane, democratic and peaceful society.

“The same also with CHR which is a Constitutional body that promotes and protects human rights, and we are excited about the prospect of cooperation that we might be able to develop between the MTRCB and CHR as we continue to promote the values of humane society,” he explained.
