THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will launch today a digital library at the Diosdado Cosido National High School in the mountain barangay of Cambinocot, Cebu City.
Speaking during the 888 News Forum, DOST 7 Director Edilberto Paradela said that the project is in line with the K-12 (kindergarten to Grade 12) program but this can be shared with the people in the community, especially on livelihood programs.
Paradela said the DOST provided the digital library, while East West Rural Bank represented by Deputy for Visayas Branches Banking Group Head Jack Torrejos donated the computers. East West Rural Bank President Elpidio Masbad will attend today’s project launch.
The project will allow students and parents to access information offline.
“It’s an offline system that you can access 500,000 digitized science and technology publications, journal and thesis as well as 150 videos that the community can look into and they can start their business,” Paradela said.
“We are happy that we have established a linkage with East West Bank whose officials are willing to donate computers to make this digital library successful,” Paradela said.
He recalled that last April the authorities of Diosdado Cosido National High School asked for their support in implementing the K-12 program.
