A widespread power crisis affected Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental and parts of Lanao del Norte at around noontime (Sunday).

A total of nine major power distributors were rendered without electricity when the Agus 5-Aurora 138KV power line tripped at around 10:58 Sunday.

The problem is compounded by the scheduled planned maintenance of the Baloi- Aurora 138kv power line which also serves electric cooperatives in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

In Zamboanga, NGCP also has an ongoing maintenance activity from 8am to 5pm affecting three substations located in Recodo, Ayala and San Jose Gusu.

The power cooperatives affected include the Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative, Zamboanga del Norte Electric Cooperative, Zamboanga del Sur Electtric Cooperative, Misamis Occidental Electric Cooperative 1 and 2, Lanao del Norte Electric Cooperative, WILMAR and PNOC EC.

The affected lines were gradually energized starting 11:17 am Sunday (July 31).
