DOLE holds jobs fair at Calasiao Sports Center

CALASIAO, Pangasinan, May 1 (PNA) -- Thousands of job seekers packed the Calasiao Sports Center to try their luck in the day-long jobs fair sponsored by the Department of Employment (DOLE) Region 1 as part of the commemoration of Labor Day on Sunday.

DOLE Regional Director Grace Ursua said over 3,000 job vacancies were offered in the jobs fair that started at 8 a.m. till 5 p.m.

The jobs fair was participated in by 25 local and 10 overseas employers that offered 1,500 and 2,086 vacancies, respectively.

Among the local job vacancies are those for professionals, business process outsourcing jobs and skilled workers, as many of the participating employers are from the service, manufacturing, communication, retail and financial sectors.

Overseas jobs are for nurses and allied professions, engineers, accountants, skilled and non-skilled workers, Ursua added.

The jobs fair featured one-stop-shop employment services by the DOLE as well as other government agencies.

“I thank our partners for their usual support in bringing the goal of inclusive growth closer to our job seekers and workers through decent and productive jobs. Our collaborative efforts are heralded through this year’s theme, 'Kinabukasan Sigurado sa Disenteng Trabaho',” the regional director said.
