DPXR to hold Run for HOPE

PAGADIAN CITY, April 28 (PIA) – To raise the level of awareness of voters towards an honest, orderly and peaceful elections, Radio Mindanao Network (RMN)-dxPR will hold a 3-kilometer fun run dubbed “RMN Run for HOPE (honest, orderly and peaceful elections) on May 7.
“For the first time, a running event like this is initiated by the dxPR to raise awareness among the voting public in the conduct of honest, orderly and peaceful elections on May 9,” Melchor U. Coronel, DxPR station manager said.
At the same time, it will encourage runners to actively participate in order to achieve and maintain good physical and mental health, foster fellowship and camaraderie among stakeholders.
Coronel said RMN Run for HOPE is open to entrants of all ages and abilities.
“It is also a fund raising event to conduct distribution of school supplies to economically disadvantaged children in public elementary schools in the city,” he added.
Participants should register first at the secretariat and pay a registration fee of P300. Each registered runner will receive a singlet, free bottled water, pandesal, coupon for raffle draw and certificate of participation.
Meanwhile, student participants should pay P50.00 and for 18 years old and above, P150.00 and without singlet.
The fun run will start at exactly 5:00am and will end at 6:30am. The route will start from Plaza Luz stage down to Sto. Nino Cathedral (Ariosa Street) to Rotunda (F.S. Pajares Avenue) and back to Plaza Luz.
The top 3 winners will receive the following cash prizes: P3,000, 2,000 and 1,000, respectively.
Special awards for youngest and oldest runner and biggest delegation will also be given away.
After the run, Coronel said participants will join the covenant signing to get the commitment of local candidates and stakeholders.
At least 500 people are expected to join the Fun Run.
