CABARROGUIS, Quirino, October 27 (PIA) -- The Zamora D’Great Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Association here and some 20 ambulant vendors from Aglipay town received P440,883 livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE 2) recently.
CABARROGUIS, Quirino, November 4 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Cagayan Valley chapter is taking another milestone with the regional launching of the Million Volunteer Run in this province today, in time with the birthday of Congressman Dakila Carlo E. Cua.
The livelihood assistance, which was personally handed to the beneficiaries at the office of Gov. Junie E. Cua by Regional Director Grace Y. Ursua, is part of the DOLE’s mandate to assist workers uplift their kind of living.

In behalf of the recipients, Governor Cua thanked the DOLE for the assistance to his constituents as he promised that his office will oversee the proper implementation and monitoring of the two projects.
Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Cagayan, Santiago City with Ifugao will be joining the regional launching this morning and the orientation meeting to be held at 1:00 this afternoon at the Cua residence at Baro a Lubong, Mangandingay, this municipality.
The ambulant vendors will venture individually into a Nego Kart (Negosyo sa Kariton) which will enable them to increase, upgrade and diversify their products and services, and market the same to more buyers or customers.
“This is part of our preparation for the Million Volunteer Run on December 4 which will be held simultaneously in the entire country to mark the International Volunteer Day on December 5,” Leal said.
Each vendor-beneficiary is provided with a total of P15,000 to cover the acquisition of a vending cart and accessory livelihood tools; working capital for procurement or production of marketable goods or services; trainings on production skills, entrepreneurship and business management; and in securing business permits to operate in designated areas.
Leal added that the Million Volunteer Run will work in conjunction with “143 Red Cross,” a volunteer flagship program where the PRC trains 44 people in every barangay, one leader and 43 members, as disaster responders and providers of basic assistance such as first aid and psychological support.
Meanwhile, the OFW Association, which received P140,883, will engage in the production of bags and baskets out of plastics straps. (TCB/RBE/PIA 2)
