ILOILO CITY – For the first time, the province of Guimaras has provided a venue for "bangus" or milkfish growers in the municipality of Sibunag to showcase their produce through the one-day Bangus Fair that was held at the provincial capitol grounds on Friday. Guimaras Governor JC Rahman Nava, in his message during the program, said bangus growing is a promising industry in the town, which started even without intervention from the government. To provide further support to the sector, he said they intend to establish an agri-fishery industrial village in Barangay Sapal in the nearby town of San Lorenzo to come up with a feed mill not only for livestock and poultry but also for aquaculture, particularly the bangus industry.

CEBU CITY – More "balikbayans" or vacationing Filipinos are coming home to Cebu from the United States this holiday season, with passenger traffic almost nearing the pre-pandemic level, a US-based travel consolidator said on Friday. Peter Vazan, chief executive officer of Trevolution Group, said research on winter holiday season booking trends indicated that the number of travel reservations made between the United States and Cebu in December 2022 and January 2023 has so far reached 70 percent of the reservations made during the same period in 2019-2020.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 0.73 percent, or 48.27 points, to 6,566.80 points. All Shares trailed with a decline of 0.54 percent, or 18.68 points, to 3,430.89 points. All the sectoral indices also ended the day in the negative territory, led by Services after it fell by 1.39 percent. It was followed by Property, 1.24 percent; Financials, 0.98 percent; Mining and Oil, 0.68 percent; Industrial, 0.41 percent; and Holding Firms, 0.02 percent.
