W. Visayas hosts launch of nat'l plan of action for nutrition

ILOILO CITY, April 26 (PNA) -- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in Western Visayas is hosting this year’s launching of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022 on May 2 in this city.
NNC-6 Regional Director Nona Tad-y said the national event would gather NNC-organized regional media groups to strengthen the information dissemination of the health and nutrition programs of the government.
She said they aimed to gather around 100 media practitioners from the different parts of the region who are active partners of NNC.
Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial already confirmed attendance to lead the launching of PPAN. NNC Executive Director IV Assistant Health secretary Maria-Bernardita T. Flores is expected to attend the event.
Tad-y said that hand-in-hand with the launching woulx be the NNC governing board meeting to be presided by Ubial, the chairperson of the board.
PPAN 2017-2022 is a results-based plan designed to stem the stagnating and worsening wasting, stunting, and micronutrient deficiencies and overweight and obesity in the Philippines.
It is an integral part of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) for 2017-2022, with goals to address the inequities in opportunities and outcomes particularly for the poor and improving human development outcomes in health, nutrition and education provides anchor to the PPAN.
