Each province is administered by :

  • The Governor - Chief Executive Officer: Elected to a term of three years and limited to three terms. The governor appoints the directors of each provincial department.
  • The Vice-Governor - Takes the office of the president of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board), which is the province's legislative body.
  • The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) exercises general supervision in the provinces and cities of 16 of 17 regions. Region XV or the region of the ARMM is exempt.
