Release of funds for Cagayan de Oro's elderly urged

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Oct. 15 (PNA) -– The City Council here has passed a resolution asking the City Mayor to release the budget for the celebration of the Senior Citizen’s Week this month.

Resolution no. 12155-2015 informed City Mayor Oscar Moreno that the funds intended for the purposes was included in the 2015 approved annual budget.

City Councilor Leon Gan said that the Cagayan de Oro Federation of Senior Citizens (Cafesca) has lined up various activities for the celebration which would entail expenses.

Gan said that the city government has regularly allotted funds for CAFESCA’s annual celebration in recognition of the senior citizen’s role in the city.

He said that Presidential Proclamation No. 470 mandates the holding of the Elderly Filipino Week or “Linggo ng Nakatatandang Filipino” on the first week of October.

Gan, a member of the city council committee on senior citizens, said that the local august body has been addressing the concerns of the city’s senior citizens.
