CEBU City will have its own version of the Children’s Games, which will be organized by the Cebu City Sports Commission.

“This is one of the projects that Chairman Butch is trying to envision for our children. There are going to be at least 100 Children’s Games around the country. Children playing against each other, not minding religious affiliations, customs or affinity. Just children playing, having fun. It’s nation-healing,” Fernandez told SunStar Cebu.

PSC started the project in Davao City where more than 1,000 children from three barangays played 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball and Larong Pinoy.

“We want the children to enjoy, especially the indigenous community and the street kids. Since Cebu City has many barangays, maybe we can split the games into 20 barangays per cluster. What is important is for us to give these kids an avenue to participate and enjoy and maybe from there, we can spot potential athletes for our grassroots training program, which is the Philippine Sports Institute,” added Fernandez.
