Disability prevention activities in July

JULY is the national disability prevention and rehabilitation month and several activities are scheduled to make people more aware.

Bong Comiling, president of the Persons With Disability (PWD) Federation of Davao, said the one-week celebration will start out by hosting the flag-raising ceremony at the City Hall on July 14.

Outstanding PWDs in Mindanao will be awarded in a program at SM Davao on July 17, while they will be gathering for a thanksgiving mass on July 19 at St. Paul's Parish at 9 a.m.

On July 20, they will have a Comelec registration, cultural show, and Sayawitan at SM while a product and services exhibit will be held at the lobby of the City Council.

A forum on responsible parenting for parents of children with disabilities will also be held for barangay captains aside from health and wellness education, free massage, diabetes and hypertension screening, issuance of PWD certificate of disability for the PWD discount card, special Olympics free sports for children and music language training at SM.

The culmination program will be on July 23, which will also have a simple bookkeeping and business proposal workshop for federation members sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment.
