CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- The Department of Health in Region 10 (DOH-10) kicked off its Friendship Games 2018 with theme “Boosting Healthy Lifestyle and Camaraderie through Friendly Sports Competition” from April 2 to 6, 2018 at the DOH 10 compound in Cagayan de Oro City.
The celebration, which is on its 13th year, included officials of different agencies in various health centers and government hospitals in the region.
This event is already a tradition maintained and sustained in Region 10, said DOH Regional Director Nimfa Torrizo.
Torrizo said the aim is to achieve teamwork not just in the office but also in games.
The event hopes to encourage camaraderie among the employees not just in regional office but also in local government units, hospitals, and rural health units.
Region 10 is the only region nationwide that has sustained the conduct of the friendship games throughout the years.
In fact, Torrizo said this will expand into an Inter-Regional Friendship Games Mindanao Cluster on June 25, 2018 together with Region 9, Region 11–Davao, CARAGA, Region 12–SOCSARGEN, and ARMM.
Torrizo also hopes the event will expand nationwide as she said this promotes good health and boosts productivity among workers.
The event kicked off with a parade, pledge of sportsmanship, lighting of torch/flame of friendship, releasing of balloons and banner raising.
Meanwhile, the participating agencies aside from DOH-10 were the City Health Office of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental, DOH- Treatment and Rehabilitation Center, JR Borja General Hospital in Cagayan de Oro City, Northern Mindanao Medical Center, Mayor Hilarion A. Ramiro Regional Training Hospital in Misamis Occidental, SM Lao General Hospital, Commission on Population Region 10, Provincial Health Office Misamis Oriental, and Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital.
