Cavite Province

Wars of ancient history were about possessions, territory, power, control, family, betrayal, lover's quarrel, politics and sometimes religion.

But we are in the Modern era and supposedly more educated and enlightened .

Think about this. Don't just brush off these questions.

  • Why is RELIGION still involved in WARS? Isn't religion supposed to be about PEACE?
  • Ask yourself; What religion always campaign to have its religious laws be accepted as government laws, always involved in wars and consistently causing WARS, yet insists that it's a religion of peace?

WHY??

There are only two kinds of people who teach tolerance:
  1. The Bullies. They want you to tolerate them so they can continue to maliciously deprive you. Do not believe these bullies teaching tolerance, saying that it’s the path to prevent hatred and prejudice.
  2. The victims who are waiting for the right moment to retaliate. They can’t win yet, so they tolerate.

Cavite focuses on becoming ISO certified

TRECE MARTIRES CITY– A countdown at the office of the Provincial Information and Community Affairs Department (PICAD) for Cavite and Sangguniang Panlalawigan is a clear manifestation that this premier province is aiming to be the country’s first ISO-certified province in the next couple months.

ISO is an acronym of International Organization for Standardization, the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.

DSWD-4A readies livelihood project for vulnerable urban poor communities

ROSARIO, Cavite- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)through the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) is set to plan its livelihood projects for vulnerable urban poor communities (LVUC) in this municipality.

The LVUC has a funding support from Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) being administered by the World Bank which among others aims to provide job opportunities to urban poor communities.

In Region IV-A, the community residents of Rosario are the first to receive the assistance of P1.2 million each for three urban poor communities in Barangay Ligtong 3.

Under the program, site validation, data gathering along social, environmental, political, and economic situation of the selected communities were conducted.

The targeted communities are highly dependent on manufacturing and services which where hit by global financial crisis. These communities are identified from the data of National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTSPR) which was validated by site visits and consultations to determine the barangays with pockets of poverty.

According to the initial reports conducted, about 271 households are identified with an average income ranging from P10,000 to P15,000.

The main products in the area are tinapa and rags which were also identified as their major source of income.

KALAHI-CIDSS Community Facilitator Anna Liza Capule of Rosario, Cavite said the main problems of the community residents are lack of funding support for small businesses, livelihood and entrepreneurial development.

“Most of the residents are also staying in the land owned by PNOC. Their houses were built near the Malimango River which overflows during rainy season causing their lives at risks,” Capule said.

Good sanitation and supply of potable water are also needed in the area. “Garbage wastes are scattered around and thrown in the river which caused flooding,” she added.

According to Capule, the residents would need to identify the priority projects that would address their most pressing needs.

The LVUC assistance to be provided focus more on labor intensive small scale development projects using an emergency employment scheme adapted from the Department’s cash for work program. It will conduct livelihood skills training that will generate jobs for communities and will develop community enterprises through business advisory services to be provided by qualified non-government organizations.

The LVUC adopts the community driven development process of DSWD’s KALAHI-CIDSS program -- a program of the government which aims to reduce poverty, improve local governance and empower communities, through providing infrastructure projects responsive to the needs of the communities but this time with emphasis along livelihood projects.

The KALAHI-CIDSS program has been implementing community projects since 2003. Some of the community projects are farm to market roads, health and day care centers, school buildings, water system and electrification leading positive changes in the municipality.

The LVUC has a total grant of $3M to be provided to approximately 3,750 poor households in 75 urban poor communities in Cavite, Laguna, Muntinlupa, Mandaluyong, Malabon and Masbate District in the City of Manila.

MetroPac still keen on Baclaran-Bacoor rail

Metro Pacific Investments Corp., a local unit of Hong Kong’s First Pacific Ltd., has reaffirmed interest to bid for the design and construction of the P60-billion Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension project, which government plans to auction within the first half.

“We would be interested [but] difficult to say whether we would be bidding for it. We don’t know terms of reference but we’d be interested in the Light Rail generally,” Metro Pacific chairman Manuel Pangilinan told reporters Tuesday.

He said Metro Pacific would wait for the bidding terms, which the government said it would release around March, before making a firm decision to bid.

“We do not know enough about it to be able to say yes we will [bid], but this early, we would be interested to look at it,” Pangilinan said.

The P60-billion LRT 1 project, which will extend the rail system from Baclaran to Bacoor, Cavite, is being evaluated by the National Economic and Development Authority.

The LRT 1 project will extend the existing 15-kilometer LRT Line 1 system southward to Bacoor, Cavite by an additional 11.7 kilometers. The project will include eight passenger stations, with provisions for two additional future passenger stations.

It will include a satellite depot for light maintenance at the southern end of the proposed line, as well as intermodal facilities installed at high-demand stations.

Additional rolling stocks will be provided to meet future load requirements once the MRT Line 3 and LRT Line 1 are integrated.

Transportation Secretary Manuel Roxas said the department would announce in the next two weeks a decision on the auction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3.

“We hope to resolve this soon. We expect a word from our legal team by end of this month,” Roxas said, referring to the legal claim of the Metro Pacific to operate, maintain and expand MRT 3.

“The legal department will determine if we will bid out the operation and management contract for the MRT 3 or just the maintenance contract alone. It is the government’s view that we will bid out the maintenance contract,” Roxas said.

Pangilinan remained mum on Metro Pacific’s next move if Transportation and decided to bid out MRT 3.

Metro Pacific in January said it expected government to honor its capacity expansion program for MRT 3.

Metro Pacific vice president for legal Jose Jesus Laurel said the company’s proposal stemmed from the expansion rights granted to Metro Rail Transit Corp. under the existing build-lease-and-transfer agreement with the government.

Mayor’s car bombing attempt probed

CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – The Police Provincial Office (PPO) here will look into the bombing attempt on the service van of Cavite City Mayor Romeo G. Ramos in Imus town last Wednesday.

The move was made after the (PPO) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team had defused safely the magnetized cell phone-triggering bomb that was found under the chassis of the mayor’s car while at the service area of Master Fix Enterprises on Aguinaldo Highway in Barangay Bayan Luma IV last Wednesday noon.

The car, a black Hyundai Starex van (SHX-771), was brought to the area to have its run-down tires replaced with new ones.
