A TOTAL of 458 job applicants were hired on the spot during the one-day “Himugsoan Trabaho Patrol” at Limketkai Mall Atrium on Monday.

About 6,600 signed up for the job fair. Aside from the applicants who were hired on the spot, 1,997 were considered qualified, another 680 are ready for a final interview and 308 will be taking a final examination.

Kathleen Kate Sorilla, PESO manager, told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro the bulk of the applicants was from the city.

Among the local job openings were for salesman, sales clerks, engineers, factory workers, while overseas work included nurses, drivers and engineers.

Charles Derequisto, 23, arrived late and was not able to register. "Sayang kaayo, pag-abot nako mao gyud pag-close. Sunod nalang, basin dili pa gyud ako," he said.

But Marife Achass, 23, applied for five jobs, "Pwede man maka-apply up to 5, so pahimuslan nalang gyud para in case dili madawat sa isa, naay backup," she said.

Jobseekers who were not able to register could still apply, and the openings would still be posted at City Hall.
