MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Nov. 24 (PIA8) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) members and beneficiaries can now have easier, faster way to facilitate membership verification through the PhilHealth LINK project.
MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, November 25 (PIA) -- Norvim A. Hombre, a freshman B.S. Information Technology student from Southern Leyte State University – Bontoc Campus grabbed the 20th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) regional championship held at the New Ormoc City Hall last November 17, 2011.
PhilHealth Service Office Head Misael Paigan said their office, through PhilHealth Link Communication Center (PLCC), can now respond to queries on membership and collection status of the patients.
Hombre bested 21 other constestants in region 8.
The facilities of the PhiHealth Link including the systems developed will be made available to all government hospitals and soon to include the RHUs.
He was closely tailed by a student from the College of Maasin, said National Statistics Office – Southern Leyte Assistant Statistician Faith Genovana.
Paigan said the operation of the PhilHealth Link is an improvement from the manual member verification method through mobile or landline phones.
Genovana said Hombre attributed his victory with their advance reading and computation practice as the key in garnering championship.
PhilHealth Southern Leyte Information Officer Henry Madula said it would be easier for any hospital patients to verify if they could avail the PhilHealth services as a member or as a beneficiary of a family relative working in other places.
She said Hombre’s victory puts a mark in the history of the PSQ in Region 8 since this is the first time the regional champion came from outside at Tacloban City and Leyte areas.
Magdula said some patients prefer to be charged to the charity ward instead of verifying at their office.
The PSQ is an annual contest designed to test the knowledge of statistics of and the Philippine Statistical Association. The PSQ is held nationwide and involves freshman students enrolled in colleges and universities in the 17 regions, Genovana said. (PIA SoLeyte/esg)
Magdula further said with the introduction of said facilities, PhilHealth hopes to increase Bed Occupancy Rate of the HCP and improve the Benefit Delivery Rate in the region. (PIA Southern Leyte/esg)
