CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Regional Prosecution Office (RPO) 10 (Northern Mindanao) on Monday said it has maintained its position as having the best performing regional prosecution offices in the country for the past two years. During the online flag ceremony of the provincial government of Misamis Oriental on Monday, Regional Prosecutor Merlynn Uy said the public prosecutors have contributed to the filing of criminal cases that were resolved at a rate of more than 90 percent, in the different provinces of Northern Mindanao. BACOLOD CITY – Residents of Barangay Banago, the lone insurgency-cleared village here, has received various benefits under the Barangay Development Program (BDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). As of Monday, at least 313 were granted medical, burial, and educational assistance from a portion of the village’s PHP20-million funding provided by the BDP -- 202 recipients on Nov. 4, 2021 and 111 during the September 22 payout. Recipients of educational assistance included college, senior high and junior high school students who each got cash assistance of PHP10,000, PHP6,000 and PHP3,000, respectively, according to a statement.
BUTUAN CITY – Heavy rains continued to affect most parts of Surigao City as of Tuesday afternoon, prompting officials to place the entire area under Alert Level 2. This came about as the Surigao Information Office issued a statement warning residents of possible flooding due to heavy rains. “The public is advised to take precautionary measures,” said Annette Villaces, the information officer of Surigao. The continuing heavy rains and thunderstorms in the area are due to a “shear line” as stated in the advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration issued at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. “Meantime, 49.2 mm amount of rainfall has been recorded for the last two hours in the city,” Villaces said.
