ARMM honors high value crops development program achievers

COTABATO CITY, May 17 (PNA) -- As the region's agriculture sector celebrates this year's Farmers and Fisherfolks' Month, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DAF-ARMM) will recognize High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) Awardees.

Alexander Alonto Jr, DAF-ARMM regional secretary, said the awarding will be held tomorrow (May 18) at Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in Cotabato City.

Among the awardees are People’s Alliance for Progress Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Barangay Kandayok, Panamao, Sulu headed by Princess Kumalah Elardo for HVCDP Achiever on Coffee; the Kenebeka Farmers Association of Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao under Albert Guiamelon as HVCDP Achiever on Rubber.

For the HVCDP on Vegetable, the awardees are Basilan Fisherfolks & Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Barangay Batungal, Maluso, Basilan and Dilabayan Farmers Association of Kapai, Lanao del Sur.

The Sapakan National High School of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao is the awardee for HVCDP "Gulayan sa Paaralan" category.

Alonto said the Agri-Pinoy Rice Achievers to be recognized and honored include 13 agricultural extension workers from Maguindanao and five from Lanao del Sur.

For Lanao Sur awardees are Normala Mangontawar, Naga Tucalo, Nurhaina Panaguilaan, Abduljabbar Natha and Mosbi Macabago.

Those from Maguindanao are Baimon Alik, Bainadia Baguindali, Salembai Abdullah, Mohammad Angeles, Aleon Mansol, Ruden Maliga, Roldan Obpon, Johardan Mamasapano, Musa Abdulkarim, Ricarte Ariem, Rahib Mamaluba, Ernesto Bergado and Akmad Abdulkarim.

Also to be recognized are DAF-ARMM employees who graduated from doctorate degree in Philosophy. They are Dr. Kadiguia R. Abdullah, Al Hadja; Dr. Jalika D. Mangacop, Al Hadja; Dr. Abusama Amba and Dr. Baingan Ayob-Iba.

Alonto told reporters that recognizing the achievers will inspire other agriculture stakeholders to excel and increase producvity.
