CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, June 11 (PNA) – It would be better for parents to prepare snacks or meals as foods for their children in school, a local official said Thursday.

City Councilor Dante Pajo, chair of the city council committee on health and sanitation, made the advised to discourage kids from eating junk foods or processed foods in schools.

“Parents should also make sure that the kids drink plenty of water,” Pajo said.

Pajo, a dentist by profession, also encourage schools to have dentists and provide dental trough as part of the school facilities to enjoin children to brush teeth after meals even in schools.

The city councilor also appealed to all officials of the village health and sanitation to inspect schools, canteens and sidewalk vendors around the school’s vicinity.

He said the cooperation of village officials is very important considering that city’s health personnel could not inspect all the schools in the city.

It is very important that the city health office would have a regular inspection report about the sanitation and health environment of the city’s schools to protect the health of school kids, Pajo said.
