  • This picture was taken at the footsteps of the rectory building. The cameraman stood in the court. To the front and north of the building was a huge and old acacia tree and car garage was next to it. There was a walkway from the Rectory to the old wooden 3 storey building that housed the librabry on the second floor. To the left of the walkway (south-side) was a very beautiful pond with a fountain at the center. There were water lilies and gold fish in the pond.

From Franklin H. Maletsky

This picture was taken in 1962. I was a 5th grader at the Ateneo de Zamboanga which was an all boys school ran by the Jesuits. I made lifelong friends with some of my classmates in this photo. I was the Tumaga boy.

I used to ride my bike to school. I bought that bike from the Thong Guan Hardware store in Magay 1962. Cost me 150 pesos at that time. My brother James sent money from the USA to buy two bikes, one for my brother Al, who was in 6th grade, and one for me. He sent only 250 pesos. Al's bike cost about 175 pesos so there was only 75 left for my bike. To make up the difference, I had to sell two of my pigs. I used that bike all the way to 1971. That's when I allowed my nephew to use the bike as his transportation to Ateneo High School. The bike was stolen at the Ateneo Campus in 1971.
