Parañaque | PARAÑAQUE CITY- Good news to Parañaque residents! The Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)-Parañaque campus is now offering baccalaureate courses. | ||
Parañaque | Parañaque Mayor Jun Bernabe said that education is a priority program of the city government, | ||
“We continue to build schools especially in barangays where there used to be none so that even students from poor families will have the necessary preparation for a brighter future,” said Bernabe. | |||
He added that barely a year after its opening, the PUP Parañaque branch now offers courses that lead to bachelor’s degrees. | |||
“With this, Parañaque students need not go far in search of good courses and quality education. We have it here in the city,” the local chief executive added. | |||
Among the courses now being offered include: Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management; B.S. Information Technology; B.S. Office Administration; and B.S. Business Administration, Major in Marketing Management and Human Resources Development. | |||
The PUP-Parañaque branch was established under the partnership of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the City Government of Parañaque, pursuant to local legislations particularly Ordinances 91-107 and 11-03 and Resolutions 04-35 at 07-39. | |||
Meanwhile, application for SY 2012-2013 is now ongoing - registration period is from January 4 to March 7 ; while entrance exam is scheduled on March 10, 2012. | |||
To qualify for the entrance test, an applicant must be a high school graduate from any Parañaque-based high school who has not enrolled in any technical, diploma, or degree program after graduation; a graduating high school student of the current school year from any Parañaque school who is a Phil. Education Placement Test (PEPT) passer, eligible for admission to college with an average rating of 82 percent or higher in its five subject areas: Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino, and “Araling Panlipunan”; or an Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS A&E) passer, eligible for college admission and has 100 or higher standard score (SS) and an essay-writing proficiency Level 2 or higher. | |||
The requirements for PUPCET Registration are the following: Valid school ID for student applicants who are graduating in current school year; original or certified true copy (if lost) of F138 for those who graduated high school in previous years; certificate of ratings if PEPT/ALS qualifier; and proof of Parañaque residency (voter’s registration certificate or barangay certificate of residency). | |||
However, applicants are only allowed to apply and take the PUPCET in one campus, and only once in any school year. Double application will render an applicant’s PUPCET result null and void. | |||
Interested applicants are advised to proceed to the PUP-Parañaque Campus located on Col. E. De Leon, in Brgy. Sto. Niño, Parañaque City. | |||
