LUCENA CITY, Quezon- | LUCENA CITY, Quezon- To allay the worries of the consumers, the veterinary office in this city has immediately acted on the information that ‘botcha’ meat continue to penetrate the public markets in the city.
City Veterinarian Dr. Winston Avillo urgently called a meeting among meat vendors in the public market to warn them on the possible proliferation of ‘botcha’ meat without their knowledge.
Avillo explained that ‘botcha’ is contaminated meat, a double dead meat that may cause diseases to humans when eaten, thus not fit for human consumption.
Dr. Avillo also assured the residents not to worry because all the meat being sold in the public market was slaughtered in the city slaughterhouse.
As result of the meeting, an agreement was forged among meat vendors, officers of the city public market administration and the city veterinary office that no ‘botcha’ meat will be sold in the public market.
The agreement was submitted to Lucena City Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga to inform her that the meat vendors are against the proliferation of ‘botcha’ meat and are opposing its entry to the public market.
Meanwhile, Avillo thanked the meat vendors for responding to their call to watch the possible entry of ‘botcha meat’ in the local market.
