CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A suspected gun-for-hire syndicate member tagged in the killings of two persons, including a confidential agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), in Angeles City, was killed in a shootout with policemen in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, Thursday afternoon.

Chief Supt. Rudy G. Lacadin, Central Luzon acting police regional director, identified the slain suspect as Sarif Mohaimen, alleged member of a gun-for-hire group operating in Pampanga and other areas in Central Luzon.

Supt. Jose Marie Basa, Mabalacat City police chief, reported that Mohaimen was suspect in the slayings of businessman Wilfredo Flores of Sta. Trinidad and Rey Nicdao Rodriguez, a confidential agent of PDEA, in separate places in Angeles City last August 20.

Mohaimen ranked third in the list of most wanted persons in Angeles City, according to Basa said.

He said that Mohaimen was driving a Yamaha Mio motorcycle with plate 4106 RR when flagged down by lawmen who were tipped off of his presence in the area.

Mohaimen, instead to surrendering, resisted arrest and sped off, prompting the operatives to chase him.

Almost 20 minutes after, police cornered the suspect but the latter traded shots with them that resulted in his death.

Probers recovered from the crime scene the suspect’s unlicensed caliber .45-caliber pistol and motorcycle and other valuables.
