-but, one of the etymologist Faiza Alih says that the Cawit were from the names of the people who are waiting for the jeepneys passingby from recodo to zamboanga city.because the jeepneys were always full from recodo,so they went to just hang on at the conductor space outside the jeepneys.many people hanging on while the jeepneys is running.then the conductor says when there is no more space inside the jeepney,cabit,cabit to stop the driver saying which means there are still a passenger want to ride and still got a place outside here he can hang. but it heards like cawit,cawit,by the passengers while the conductor pointing at the people who wants to ride the jeepneys hanging outside with the conductor.since then,the place named cawit from the people who always ride hanging on the jeepneys.
