In 1928, it was said that the entire land area which is now known as Lumayang was filled with a vast plantation of abaca, where 229 hectares were owned by a certain foreigner named Mr. Brown. For unknown reasons, the aforementioned abaca plantation owner left the area and returned to his country. | |||
It was in 1932 that people from nearby communities began to migrate to this place. During that time this place still has no name. However, there was a very big tree located exactly where the multi-purpose hall has been built now, and on this tree grew a vine called hagnaya. | |||
Henceforth, anyone who goes to this place and would be asked of his/her destination, the response is that they are going to sitio Hanaya. This place was then named, reached and was told from one person to another until eventually the name Hagnaya was shifted to Lumayang. | |||
