KORONADAL CITY, Oct 17 (PIA) -- Soccsksargen’s Regional Development Council recently launched the Regional Development Plan (RDP) from 2011 – 2016 under the theme “Establishing its Role as the Sustainable Food Center in the South.” | |||
The RDP envisions Soccsksargen or Region 12 to be the “home of God-centered and empowered, culturally diverse people, provider of world class high value crops, fishery, mineral and tourism products and services, propelled by dynamic and dedicated leaders, and living in a green and healthy environment.” | |||
In attaining its vision, the following are the strategic outcomes that the council will undertake for the next six years: increased and sustained growth in agriculture, fishery, and industry; equal access to basic services; effective infrastructure support; adequate and reliable energy supply; improved ecological integrity; good governance; and sustained peace, development, and security. | |||
The launching was attended by Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Talino of Cotabato Province, Mayor Darlene Antonino of General Santos City, Mayor Peter Miguel of Koronadal City and Director Socorro Ramos of NEDA 12. | |||
A representative of Secretary Lualhati Antonino, Chairperson of the Mindanao Development Authority (MINDA) also attended the activity. Also present were the regional heads and representatives from the different National Government Agencies (NGAs) and local government units (LGUs). | |||
In her message which was read by her representative, Sec. Antonino hailed the region’s principle of “synergy” in reaching the eaves of success. | |||
She also congratulated the Council in launching the RDP which is a meaningful renewal of the Council’s commitment towards development of the Soccsksargen region. | |||
Soccsksargen Region covers the provinces of Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and North Cotabato and the cities of Cotabato, Kidapawan, Tacurong, Koronadal and General Santos. (DEDoguiles/PIA 12/CLSonsona/DOLE 12) | |||
