CLARK FREEPORT -- More than 1,000 farmers from two provinces in Central Luzon benefited from the seedling dispersal program of Clark Development Corporation (CDC).
Under the program, dubbed as “Gulayan sa Bakuran Tulong sa Kabuhayan at Kalusugan,” CDC was able to disperse more than 64,000 assorted seedlings to farmers' associations in the provinces of Pampanga and Tarlac.
The CDC External Affairs Department reported to CDC President Noel F. Manankil that the beneficiaries of the program were Carisucas Farmers who received 30 trays of seedlings and Anupul Farmers Association with 20 trays.
San Roque Farmer’s Bitas and Concepcion Farmers Association both received 25 trays of seedlings.
The municipalities of Capas, Bamban in Tarlac; Porac, Angeles City and Mabalacat City in Pampanga also received 25 trays of seedlings each.
Five selected partner schools in Pampanga were also given 10 trays of seedlings each for their "Gulayan sa Paaralan" project.
The distributed trays contained 128 seedlings of peppers and eggplants.
The seedling dispersal program, which was introduced in 2014, is part of CDC’s continuing Corporate Social Responsibility.
It was designed to uplift the lives of the nearby communities. It also serves as an annual agricultural livelihood project for farmers and selected beneficiaries.
Lawyer Perlita Sagmit, CDC vice president for Corporate Service, said the state-owned firm will continue to extend assistance to communities, especially to farmers’ group in the surrounding areas of Clark.
