ANGELES CITY -- Barangay Captain Tony Mamac hosted over the weekend a seminar for barangay officials here on the rudiments of the Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) system.

Katarungang Pambarangay, or the Barangay Justice System, is a local justice system in the Philippines. It is operated by the smallest of the local government units, the barangay, and is overseen by the barangay captain, the highest elected official of the barangay and its executive.

Mamac said that the seminar aims to help the Lupong Tagapamayapa on the effectiveness in attaining the Katarungang Pambarangay objectives, and creativity and resourcefulness in the administration of KP.

The barangay captain said that the training will also help to give a better understanding of the resolution of barangay disputes.

Mamac said that understanding of the KP objectives and law promotes healthy relationships among villagers but also lessens the congestion of cases and addresses the backlog of cases in the courts.
