37 Angeleños complete Pes skills training program

ANGELES CITY - Some 37 beneficiaries in this city graduated on Wednesday, marking the completion of their Livelihood and Skills Training being rendered by the Public Employment and Services Office (Peso).
In partnership with the Junior Chambers International Angeles City Culiat chapter (JCI- Angeles Culiat), the fitting graduation rites were held at Robinson’s Place Angeles.
The community-based skills training program is a free workshop offered by Peso in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) to citizens who want to learn and improve their abilities.
The program aims to give the beneficiaries an additional skills and entrepreneurial knowledge that could raise their competitive edge for prospective job employment or could equip them with learnings essential in managing their own businesses.
Of the 37 graduates, a total of 24 took the livelihood course on Cosmetology while the remaining 13 took Dressmaking courses.
According to Peso Manager Maria Rosa Teodora Basilio, “the trainings that are being offered are free and are Tesda-accredited. The graduates were fully assessed and were given certificates that deemed them qualified in the related jobs that they want to fulfill.”
“This project is in partnership with JCI Angeles City Culiat and it aims to help our kabalens in improving and developing the skills they have that would make them more competitive in applying for a job that would best fit their skills,” added Basilio.
Furthermore, JCI Angeles City Culiat chapter President Renato Tayag III stated that “JCI Angeles City Culiat has been a partner for years helping the alay skills trainees in enhancing their skills that would help them in uplifting the lives of their families.”
“With the help from different sponsors, we gather funds that would be used in providing instructors and the materials and machineries that they would need for the training,” Tayag added.
During the graduation rites, Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to make full use of their acquired knowledge and skills.
“This opened an opportunity for the graduates to gain employment and help their families. This also serves as an inspiration especially to us working in the government to create more programs that would help in the development and progress of the city,” said Vice Mayor Nepomuceno.
For his part, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan urged all Angeleños to avail of the free skills training offered by Peso like massage therapy, housekeeping, barista and electrical products assembly and servicing.
