TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Nov. 17 (PIA) -–Construction of the farm-to-market road project in Barangay Matampay, Bucana, Lala, this province, will soon facilitate the market access of farmers.
TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Philippines – The nearing completion of farm-to-market roads in the far-flung villages of Lala in Lanao del Norte are seen to benefit local farmers, and expected to boost the local economy in the area.
The announcement was made after a simple ribbon-cutting ceremony held at the site last Nov. 11.

The project was implemented under the Kapitbisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDDS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
These farm-to-market road projects are under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDDS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Four other towns in Lanao del Norte continue to benefit from the Kalahi-CIDDS program, namely: Kapatagan, Bacolod, Salvador and Sapad.

“The provincial government is always quick in releasing its counterpart because these are community-driven projects. These are what our people wanted,” Gov. Khalid Dimaporo, who expressed pleasure with the latest project under Kalahi-CIDDS in the coastal town of Lala, said.
Four other towns in Lanao del Norte Kapatagan, Bacolod, Salvador, and Sapad are also expected to benefit from the Kalahi-CIDDS program.
Spearheading the implementation of the project is the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Anabelle Mendez with the assistance of DSWD Region 10.
Upon completion, the farm-to-market road will help ease the transportation of cultured crabs from the fish pens to their selling areas.
In the past, crab farmers used to carry their harvested crabs through the small dikes which normally take an hour to cross on foot just to reach the local market.
Now using the new road, however, farmers can easily reach the town market in less than 15 minutes. (PIO/PIA-1
