-TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Nov. 22 (PIA) -- An inter-agency Peace Caravan convergence meeting was recently concluded at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session hall here to discuss the Mindanao Week of Peace 2011 celebration.
+TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Nov. 24 -- More than 3,000 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries coming from numerous towns, this province, availed of services from various government agencies that participated during the Convergence Caravan launched here on November 18.
-Vice Governor Irma Ali who presided the meeting urged sectoral representatives to actively participate in the Mindanao Week of Peace 2011 celebration on Nov. 24-30.
+An initiative by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Caravan intends to give open access to the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries who live from far-flung areas the services of the national government.
-She expressed her elation for the peace initiatives of the Army units in Lanao del Norte for organizing the inter-agency convergence meeting.
+Hosted by Governor Mohammad Khalid Q. Dimaporo, the Caravan provided government services such as PhilHealth registration, skills and livelihood orientations, business counselling, medical mission, job fair, pre-processing of passports and skills demonstrations.
-“I congratulate the military particularly the 35th Infantry (Makamandag) Battalion, Philippine Army, headed by Lt. Col. Ferdinand S. Razalan, commanding officer, for the peace building efforts in the province. The provincial government is very willing to extend support for the success of the activities lined up for the week,” said Vice Gov. Ali.
+The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) participated in the Caravan. -The culminating activity, which is slated on Nov. 30, will be highlighted with a peace caravan and a rally.
-The participants for the peace caravan and rally will be composed mainly of the youth sector, particularly the Out-of-School Youth (OSY) and Young Professionals who were graduates of the series of batches of the KABATAAN Seminar (KAagapay ng BAyan sa PagkamiT ng KapayapAAN), a Youth Leadership Summit concept in the grassroots level, spearheaded by the 35IB in close partnership with the different civil institutions.
-The peace caravan and rally aims to give emphasis and paramount importance on the role of the youth in nation building particularly the OSY and those in the grassroots through active involvement in various community activities alongside with the different sectors of the society, said Lt. Col. Razalan.
-Meanwhile, Colonel Aldred Limoso, brigade commander, 2nd Mechanized Infantry (Magbalantay) Brigade, Light Armor Division, Philippine Army, said the proposed activities will be in line with the Armed Forces of Philippines’ Internal Peace and Security Plan “Bayanihan,” where extensive convergence between and among all stakeholders is strongly encouraged for a common vision of achieving a lasting peace in the area.
-These groups of peace builders and advocates will showcase a strong and active involvement to call out for a lasting peace in support to the Presidential Proclamation No.127, celebrating the Mindanao Week of Peace. (35th IB/PIA-10 LDN)
