| TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – At least 4,000 residents from the different towns here received at least two kilograms of beef during Monday’s Korban ‘beef sharing’ festival held at the Agora Public Market in Sagadan. | | TUBOD, Lanao del Norte – Communities in the interior municipalities of Lanao del Norte continue to benefit under the national government’s anti-poverty alleviation program. |
|
| |
|
| “We are celebrating Eid Al-Adha now, which we originally thought was a feast only for the Muslims. But we stand corrected. This is a celebration for everybody, both Muslims and Christians. That’s why we will be distributing beef to everyone,” Governor Khalid Q. Dimaporo said.
| | This time, the far-flung villages in the interior municipalities of Salvador and Sapad have started their infrastructure projects under the government’s “Makamasang Tugon” program. |
|
| |
|
| Dimaporo said he particularly invited Christians to join, which is the equivalent of Christmas for the Christians.
| | The program serves as incentive to municipalities where sub-projects were already completed, properly implemented, and had served its purpose of empowering the community. |
| | |
| The governor said the sacrifice of Abraham who offered his only son Isaac, as an act of obedience to God, “who upon seeing Abraham’s faith, intervened and instead provided a lamb to be sacrificed.” | |

| About 220 cows were prepared the Halal way for the festival. Of the number, 100 were donated by the Integrated Center for Alternative Developments (Icad) Foundation from Turkey represented by its president
| |
| Ferhat Kazkondu and 120 were donated by the Provincial Government.
| |
| | |
| In the state of the merry-making, 20 of the cows were roasted for lunch.
| |
| | |
| Dimaporo thanked Icad Foundation and the Turkish people for their donation, as he hoped for the repeat of the event next year with more donations.
| |
| | |
| Kazkondo described the festival of sacrifice as a tradition for both Muslim and Turkish people all around the world.
| |
| | |
| “The festival is likened to Christmas for the Christians as it wants to feed people who are among the poor and those who need help,” he said.
| |
| | |
| Through this festival, Icad Foundation extends help and assistance to the people in need and their families by giving them an amount of beef, which will help sustain their need for food for a period of time.
| |
| | |
| Kazkondo said Icad Foundation began the beef sharing in 1997 where about 20 heads of cows were provided.
| |
| | |
| However, in the past years, the foundation increased the number of cows to not less than 400 and shared with more than 10,000 families each year.
| |
| | |
| He said through the activities of Icad Foundation, more people were able to know the Philippines better and extend their assistance to the country through the Foundation.
| |
| | |
| A private, non-profit, non-stock organization, Icad Foundation is established under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 16, 1996.
| |
| | |
| Currently, it has three campuses offering elementary and secondary education under its administration in the Philippines -- The Filipino-Turkish Tolerance School located in Zamboanga City which was established in 1997 and two schools in Manila established in 2002 and 2006.
| |
| | |
| As such, members of the foundation are committed to fulfill their social responsibility through different means of charitable works and services to the community.
| |
| | |
| For the last 13 years, Icad shared beef with thousands of less fortunate families in Zamboanga, Davao and Manila.
| |
| | |
| Meanwhile, Secretary Luwalhati R. Antonino of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) congratulated the people of Lanao del Norte, particularly the Dimaporo family, for coming up with the Beef Sharing Festival as a showcase of unity and friendship.
| |
| | |
| "Events like this should find its way to tell the world that our people here do live in harmony and that in this situation, development can easily find its way around to improve the lives of the citizens,” Antonino said.
| |
| | |
| She also mentioned the good roots that produced the caliber of Dimaporo and paid special mention on the accomplishments of his father, former Representative Abdullah Dimaporo, who was around to witness the festivities.
| |
| | |
| Present during the occasion were regional directors Lealyn A. Ramos of the Department of Agriculture, Linda Boniao of the Department of Trade and Industry, Alfonso Alamban of the Department of Science and Technology and Raymund Ondiano of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
