MADDELA, Quirino, October 25 (PIA) -- The Skills Registry System (SRS), a government program aimed at addressing job mismatch in the country, was launched in this municipality recently. | |||
Spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Regional Office No. 2, the launch was held at the town’s social hall and was attended by the municipal and barangay officials. | |||
Mayor Renato Ylanan said he is optimistic that SRS will help uplift the living condition of his constituents through job facilitation. | |||
Meanwhile, Guilllermo Tan, chief of the DOLE Quirino Field Office challenged barangay officials to actively implement the project so that their constituents will get the full benefit of the SRS. | |||
On the other hand, Prexie Caronan, chief of the DOLE 2 Technical Services & Support Division said the SRS will enlist active labor force including. | |||
“The SRS database will be linked to www.phil-job.net, the official job portal of the Philippine Government, so that information can be viewed anywhere at any time through the internet. This is very useful on the part of the job seekers and employers because job matching can be done online,” she added. | |||
“You are the main actors of this program because information will come from you. If employers will come to your place, you have a ready database for available skills. Your incentive in registering skills of your constituents may not be monetary, but the joy of helping others,” Caronan told the barangay officials. | |||
The SRS, which has a tagline of “Hahanapin ka ng Trabaho kung Ikaw ay Nakarehsitro,” is a one-time registration as the information will only need to be updated if necessary such as when the registrant already got a job or has acquired additional skills or working experience. | |||
In region 2, the SRS was piloted in three areas such as Sta. Ana and Aparri in Cagayan province | |||
and Santiago City in Isabela. | |||
Caronan said the successful piloting of the project has paved the way to its second wave of implementation in the municipalities of Lallo and Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, Ilagan and Cauayan City in Isabela, Solano in Nueva Vizcaya and Maddela in Quirino. (TCB/RBE/PIA 2) | |||
