[[Image:1 116146497l.jpg|right|150px]][[Image:Santo Sepulcro.jpg|left|150px]]Aside from the yearly celebration of the barangay fiesta, which is celebrated every September 24 in honor of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes (Our Lady of Ransom), another tradition that is being done by almost all the Mercedeños is the celebration of Christ's Death and Passion known as the Santo Entierro Procession held during the afternoon of Good Friday. Long before, people from all walks of life, from as far as Putik, Divisoria, Boalan, Culianan, Cabaluay and as far as Manicahan would come and attend this long procession of about 20 images as a symbol of the tradition mixed with the devotion that these people have during the entire observance of the holy week. | |||
Basically known as the Santo Entierro, images depicting Christ's passion and death are owned by the prominent and old families of Mercedes. These images are paraded along the streets of the old Calle Real during the Good Friday. | |||
