MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Dec. 25 (PIA) -- Rank and file employees of the city government here dipped into their pockets to chip in for the victims of tropical storm Sendong in Cagayan De Oro City and Iligan City.
According to Noli Casas, chapter administrator of the local Red Cross, they are ready for at least two batches of blood bags should there be a need among the Typhoon Sendong victims in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City. Each batch of blood bags contains from 60- 70 bags of blood, he added.
City mayor Maloney Samaco said he will convene the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) to pass a resolution for setting aside funds for the Sendong survivors.
Earlier, the local Red Cross counterparts in said calamity-stricken areas together with the Red Cross based in Davao City were able to cover the needs of the typhoon victims, so far, Casas was informed.
