HOAs to receive livelihood program in June

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- The City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) is set to implement the Social Entrepreneurship Program (SEP) for the livelihood applicants of the Homeowners’ Associations (HOAs) from the different relocation sites of the city.
Around P2 million has been allocated as initial capital for the livelihood program of the HOAs.
Engr. Ermin Stan Pimentel, head of CHUDD, clarified that the program aims to help increase the income of families who are beneficiaries of the existing housing communities.
However, there are only six HOA’s that submitted their livelihood proposal to CHUDD and these include San Juan 1 Lapasan Homeowners Association Inc. which proposed rice trading as a livelihood; Cagayan de Oro Resettlement Socialized Housing Project 3 (CDORSHP-3) of Barangay Iponan that focuses on hollow block making; GK-Shell Calaanan, Barangay Canitoan, rug making; Bueno Oro Homeowners Association Inc. (BOHAI), rice trading; Oro Habitat Phase 2-A, rice trading; and FS Catanico Homeowners Association Inc., rice trading.
Pimentel clarified that the target number of HOAs who can avail the livelihood program is 20 and each group will be given P100,000 as capital.
Before the capital is given, the approved beneficiaries will undergo some training to understand the concepts on basic management and product development.
Doing so will aid the beneficiaries gain knowledge on how to handle their business.
CHUDD now urges other HOAs to submit their project proposal to the office of CHUDD so that their proposals will be included before the start of the program in June.
