Dagupan City is now paving the way for young residents to become health advocates.

Mayor Belen Fernandez said they launched the Junior Health Advocate program on Friday, June 29.

Under the program, selected students per classroom will be tasked to ask their peers if they are sick and who among their relatives are also ill. The information will then be transmitted to the city health officer, who will then deploy barangay nurses to look into the reported cases.

“This is our way of bringing health closer to the people,” said Fernandez.
