Geography: A Basic Lesson of Philippine Governance and Hierarchy
Geography is a basic human understanding of place, and how humans can relate to that place. Without this basic understanding of geography, humans cannot find their place. With that principle in mind, we will help people find their way in the Philippine islands, especially where our Zamboanga City belongs. In The Philippines, the official system of geographical governance is listed in its hierarchical form below:
Country |
Cities (chartered) |
Regions |
Provinces |
Municipalities |
Barangays |
As a comparison lesson, in the United States, their official system of geographical governance is listed in its hierarchical form below:
Country (Federal) |
States (including territories) |
Counties |
Cities (chartered) |
Now, we'll try to keep it simple for those who are unaware in hopes of shedding light on this often erroneous category listing (an example of errors can be viewed in category listings and links by DMOZ, Google, Yahoo!, and most other search engines, and even official Philippine government categories - we hope this will help them correct their errors). Without any further ado, below is the geographical listing of Philippine Governance and Category in its hierarchical form.
