PANUKULAN, Quezon- About 915 family-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in this municipality have received their financial subsidy for the months of November and December 2011 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Calabarzon after complying with the conditions set under the program.
LUCENA CITY, Quezon– The ‘Cordian earth savers’ of Sacred Heart College (SHC) has organized ‘Takbo para sa Ilog Dumacaa’ to generate fund for the use in the clean-up drive of Dumacaa river in this city.

According to a release from DSWD, family-beneficiaries must conform to the requirement for granting subsidy such as monthly check-up for pregnant mothers, vaccination of 0-6 year old children and attendance to family development session for the health grant, while at least 85 percent attendance rate per month for each qualified  youngster for the education grant.
According to Councilor William Noche, chairperson of committee on environment, many groups and associations are responding to the call of Mayor Barbara Ruby Talaga to support the preservation of the Dumacaa and Iyam rivers.

Each family beneficiary receives a subsidy equivalent to P500 per month for health grant and P300 per child (6 to 14 years old) up to a maximum of three children per family.
“The initiative of students from SHC to clean the Dumacaa river symbolizes youth participation in restoring the old features of the river for the benefit of the next generation”, Noche said,  adding that this is also the dream of the city government to resuscitate the two major rivers in the city.

At least 65,000 4Ps family beneficiaries, in Calabarzon region alone, are expected to receive their respective subsidy for Nov-Dec. 2011 until the second week of March 2012
Barangay captain Nilo Villapando of Barangay 1, said the initiative of students of SHC should become an inspiration to other students from other schools to conduct the same activity and must have responsibility to know the current situation of the rivers as residents of this city.

In every subsidy payout, released through Globe G-Cash remit, beneficiaries are reminded to primarily utilized subsidy for the health and education needs of their children ages 0-14 years, the DSWD said.
Captain Benjamin Tomboc, executive officer of Task Force Lucena said they will continue to support any activity that will benefit development of the living conditions of many people.

The 4Ps, a flagship program of the DSWD in line with the Philippine Development Plan 2011-2016 championed by Pres. Benigno S. Aquino III, aims to improve the general welfare of the people through equitable access to adequate and quality social services and assets.
Joining the fun run and clean up drive are the barangay officials of barangays 1 and 2, Task Force Lucena, Lucena City riders club, Rivers resuscitation committee and students of SHC.

The SHC officers have plan to implement a follow up activity to preserve the said river.
