CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro, Dec. 8 (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Office here has strictly warned riders from buying and using motorcycle helmets and visors without Product Standards (PS) or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) markings. | |||
In an interview, Sammy M. Linatoc, DTI Chief of Consumer Welfare Division, said that prohibiting such use of helmets and visors without markings is in observance of Department Administrative Order (AO) No. 10 issued by their office recently. | |||
Linatoc clarified that said AO aims to protect the welfare of motorcycle riders and passengers against the use of low quality helmets and visors that do not protect the riders whenever accidents occur. | |||
“The public must be alert enough in buying helmets and visors and they must see to it that there is ICC sticker stuck on the material which proves that it is DTI certified,” Linatoc added. | |||
The DTI provincial office headed by Oscar M. Agbay is now strictly monitoring stores that are continuously selling uncertified helmets and visors in the province. The department is encouraging people’s participation in its advocacy not to sell and use products without the required DTI markings. (Louie T. Cueto/PIA MIM) | |||
