Salaam TV (Philippines)
Salaam TV is a newly created television station by the Philippine government to promote the Muslim culture and the religion of Islam. Salaam TV will be financed by the Philippine government through the "Presidential Communications Group (Philippines)" which is under the "Office of the President of the Philippines". The focus of Salaam TV will be on the development of Muslim communities.
The TV station is set to launch on July 23, 2017. Former PTV News anchor Princess Habibah Sarip-Paudac, the first Muslim Filipina news anchor to wear a hijab on a national television newscast, will take role as the station manager.
During the Duterte's first SONA, last 7/25/16 mentioned that the government will put up two government-run TV stations. One for the Muslims and the other for the Lumads. The Salaam TV for the Muslims has been launched but the Lumad station is still in the planning stage.
Duterte, the first Muslim president of the Philippines, kept his promise to the Muslim people that he made back in July of 2016.
