The presidents of the Philippines haven't shown any respect for the Barangay system. Not a single president so far has honored the name of the barangay where the Malacañang Palace is located in. Will the 16th president (Duterte) be the first to start respecting the barangay system? So far he hasn't. As citizens, you can ask the president to do so. You can also help update the barangay pages in two ways: (1) by sending your information or pictures via email to franklin_maletsky@yahoo.com, (2) by messaging your information or pictures via Facebook.

List of Provinces in the Philippines - The territory of the Philippinens are divided into regions and within each region are the provinces:
  • PROVINCES - These provinces are subdivided into Cities, Municipalities, and Barangays.
    • Some of the Cities within the provinces of the philippines are independent of the Province that they are located in, hence they are called Independent and Highly Urbanized cities.
    • Voters registered in a highly urbanized city, as hereinabove defined, shall not participate nor vote in the election of the officials of the province in which the highly urbanized city is geographically located.(SECTION 3. of BATAS PAMBANSA BILANG. 51
    • Some communities are not big enough to be clasified as a city, so they remain to be MUNICIPALITIES. Every province, city, and municipality in the Philippines is classified by income.
    • Within the municipalities, cities, and chartered cities are the BARANGAYS. Without the Barangays there would be no municipality, city, chartered city, or province.

Each province is administered by :

  • The Governor - Chief Executive Officer: Elected to a term of three years and limited to three terms. The governor appoints the directors of each provincial department.
  • The Vice-Governor - Takes the office of the president of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board), which is the province's legislative body.
  • The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) exercises general supervision in the provinces and cities of 17 of 18 regions. Region XV or the region of the ARMM is exempt.

Kaya Iloilo sweeps Group B in Copa '21

MANILA – Kaya Iloilo pipped Mendiola with a 6-0 beating on Wednesday night to complete a sweep of Group B action in the Copa Paulino Alcantara at the PFF National Training Centre in Carmona.

A Jovin Bedic brace in the first half set the tone for the inaugural tournament champ even as the club netted three goals in each of the two halves to seal the top seed in its group ahead of the semifinals next week.

Bedic capitalized on an erroneous Mendiola attempt to keep the ball out of his reach and quickly raced inside the penalty box to open the scoring for Kaya Iloilo in the 11th minute.

  • Filipino Families Furious As Massacre Trial Drags On
    • by Anthony Kuhn
    • (NPR) – May 09, 2011
Frustration is growing at the slow pace of justice in the Philippines. The trials of those accused of murdering 34 journalists and two dozen others have dragged on for more than 500 days without any conclusive results.
The murders are often described as the worst single atrocity against journalists, and victims' families and media rights groups are demanding action from the Philippine government.
In the basement of the courthouse in Quezon City, part of the metro Manila region, Catholics pray for the souls of the departed. In courtrooms upstairs, doctors present grim evidence of how the victims were killed...Full Story »
