For the second time, Palawan and Puerto Princesa, as led by the provincial and city government and in coordination with the European Union, hosted movie screenings for the Cine Europa Film Festival, now on its 19th year, from November 22 to 27 with Palawan State University and Robinsons Place as venues.

With an emphasis on ‘friendship’ and its challenges, the said event aimed to highlight the growing cultural partnership between the European Union(EU) and the Philippines. This year, the theme was reflected by movies from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and United Kingdom.

According to Ambassador Franz Jessen, Head of Delegation, “It’s because of friendship that Cine Europa has thrived throughout these 19 years. Also, the film festival has started as a gift of the EU to the Philippines and this film festival has remained to be a long lasting legacy, it is also in fact become on of the longest and largest festivals in the country today.”

City Mayor Lucilo Bayron gave a warm welcome to the EU delegation and expressed his support to the partnership. “We are looking forward for the continuation of Cine Europa for the next coming years,” he said.
