PUERTO PRINCESA CITY (PNA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Palawan took to the local media in this city Friday to remind employers to give the 13th month pay of their employees.
The reminder was personally done by DOLE Provincial Director Peter James Cortazar, who said the 13th month pay should be given to employees before December 24 based on Presidential Decree 851.
Cortazar said those who resigned, who were separated, and terminated from work are also entitled to receive their 13th month pays.
Anyone has the right to file complaint at the DOLE if their employers refuse to give them.
Cortazar said labor inspectors are going to do the rounds of businesses in Puerto Princesa and the province to check on employment records, and to determine if employees are receiving the benefits due them.
All rank and file employees regardless of their designation or employment status, who have worked at least one month during the calendar year are entitled to a 13th month pay.
