Kapatagan Provincial Hospital, Lanao del Norte, Project B.O.S.S.

March 15-17, 2013. APO SOZA ALAS (Alpha Phi Omega Southern Zamboanga Alumni Association) in partnership with its local organization the KAPOHIL (Kapatiran Alpha Phi Omega sa Hilagang Lanao) has again implemented its Project B.O.S.S. in Kapatagan Provincial Hospital, Lanao del Norte. It would be recalled that last Sept. 2012 the first such project in Lanao del Norte was conducted in Baroy Provincial Hospital, Lanao del Norte were 69 indigent Cleft Lip/Palate patients benefited from the FREE Restorative Surgical Procedure. This is the 14th such mission that APO SOZA ALAS has done since they started it in Margosatubig, Zamboanga del Sur, on June 21, 2011.

The president of APO SOZA ALAS is Engr. Gabriel A. T. “BEL” Yenko & Mr. Taher Banding is the president of KAPOHIL. Gov. Khalid Dimaporo is a member of KAPOHIL. Both presidents were ably assisted by their organization secretaries Ms. Babes C. Rota & Ms. Mavic Ditanongun respectively.

The infatigable Dr. Jamaica Dimaporo, assisted by Ms. Sophie Maruhom & Ms. Ariane Camins, was again in the forefront in coordinating with APO SOZA ALAS and KAPOHIL, tapped the full resources of the provincial LGU to see to it that it would be another successful humanitarian and noble endeavor. The lens man was Mr. Jason Casas of the LGU. The chief of hospital of Kapatagan Provincial Hospital Dr. Medel Tomada was so ecstatic and happy that the venue was being done there. He provided those mouth watering prawns, & crabs to augment the pack lunch prepared by the LGU of the province. It goes without saying that the volunteer doctors, nurse & staff of MCFI (Maharlika Charity Foundation Inc.), were so delighted having been treated to such a sumptuous lunch during their stay, and of course the members of both groups of Alpha Phi Omega.

The medical & technical staff of the hospital were so hospitable and gave their best in rendering their task for the fulfillment of the mission. The 15 Cleft Palate patients were referred to Cagayan de Oro for their operation for the hospital didn’t have yet a blood bank, and of course it’s still included in the mission so they are FREE. There were 52 Cleft Lip patients & 2 Pedia Hernia patients that were operated. They mostly came from the inner barangays of the province, some came as far as Ozamis, Sibugay & Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur. The total benefited equaled that of last year. The radio dissemination was done by Mr. Raul Dinapo of the province station through an over the phone interview with Engr. Bel T. Yenko. RMN radio station, Pagadian & Iligan City, Mr. Buknoy Dumapit & Mr. Ramil Emborong respectively did also their part in airing the noble event. The ever supportive Provincial Governor, Gov. Khalid Q. Dimaporo was the guest speaker during the culmination night on Mar. 17, 2013. He again thank the group of MCFI and his fellow members of Alpha Phi Omega, his provincial staff, the medical staff of Kapatagan Provincial Hospital & others, for yet another milestone in his province wherein health care is his banner project for it goes parallel to a strong economy. The fellowship lasted till the wee hours of the night, though the Governor has to begged off early. Some souvenir items were given by the LGU & KAPOHIL as appreciation of another successful Project B.O.S.S.
