Authorities have seized illegal firecrackers being sold in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur and San Fernando City, La Union, an Unang Balita report on Thursday said.

In Pagadian City, these dangerous firecrackers were being sold openly in several stores.

Among those being sold were the firecrackers Lolo Thunder, bawang, and watusi.

The city has banned the sale of these firecrackers to avoid accidents.

Vendors, however, defended themselves and said they have secured a permit from the Civil Security Group in Camp Crame to sell the firecrackers.

Almost P1-M firecrackers

Meanwhile in San Fernando City, La Union, authorities confiscated illegal firecrackers amounting to almost P1 million.

More than 100 boxes of illegal firecrackers were seized in the stores.

Authorities said these stores do not have permits to sell the firecrackers.

Aside from this, they also do not have a fire safety certificate.
